KONE Corporation, press release, June 20, 2016
KONE, a global leader in the lift and escalator industry, will modernise the lifts of global law firm Clifford Chance at its Canary Wharf offices on 10 Upper Bank Street in London, England. The deal includes the integration of the KONE Polaris® lift destination control system to the 27 lifts in the 33-storey building to improve people flow for both tenants and end users.
The advanced technology reduces lift travel times and eliminates overcrowding and unnecessary stops by guiding passengers to the most appropriate lift according to destination floor. Passengers pre-select their destination floor on a user-friendly touchscreen display before entering the lift and can also save their preferences for future journeys. The KONE technology improves the overall experience and also addresses the building's requirement to move 25% more people as its population increases.
Upgrade work is expected to begin in June 2016, with completion expected by December 2017.
"KONE has created a solution that tackles two of the main focuses in modern lives - efficiency and time saving. Our destination control system was created specifically to make vertical travel as simple and as effective as possible," says Michael Williams, Managing Director of KONE Great Britain. "I'm looking forward to being able to share this technology with more customers and building users across Great Britain."
The order was booked in the first quarter of 2016.
