KONE Corporation, press release, October 8, 2012

KONE has been selected to modernise the high vertical rise escalators at Helsinki City Transport's (HKL) Kamppi metro station. The delivery includes the complete modernisation of three escalators with a vertical rise of close to 30 meters, which will ensure the reliable functioning and safety of the escalators over the following decades. The order also includes a five-year maintenance contract.

Together, HKL and KONE have already modernized the escalators at the Rautatientori, Sörnäinen and Hakaniemi metro stations and the modernization of Ruoholahti metro station is near completion.

"We are proud to be continuing our co-operation with HKL on yet another demanding public transport development project and to enable smooth and safe People Flow for the residents of Helsinki," says Ari Lehtoranta, EVP and Area Director for KONE Central and North Europe.

The escalators will be modernised one at a time beginning in January 2013 and the project is estimated to be completed by February 2014.

The order was booked in the third quarter of 2012.
